Coconut crescents

Coconut crescents, alongside Linzer cookies, are another holiday classic that you can’t miss out on. These simple, crumbly treats are some of my favorites and make a delicious addition to any holiday spread.

Coconut crescents

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • A pinch of baking powder
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 cup softened butter or margarine
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • Additional:
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together the softened butter, sugar, and vanilla sugar until well combined. Then add the egg yolks and mix again briefly to combine the ingredients. Add a pinch of salt, shredded coconut, and flour mixed with baking powder, and knead the dough.

Next, take pieces of dough weighing about 0.5 ounces each. Shape each piece into a ball, then roll it into a log and bend it to form crescents.

Arrange the prepared crescents on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the baking time, as it may vary depending on your oven and the thickness of the crescents.

Let the baked crescents cool in the pan for a few minutes to prevent them from breaking. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your homemade coconut crescents!
