Homemade Monte Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups (400 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 2/3 cups (400 ml) whole milk (3.5% fat)
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar
  • 2 packets vanilla sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon hazelnut spread (I used Mövenpick, but Gürsoy is my favorite)
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix together the heavy cream, whole milk, cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Once the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency, remove it from the heat.
  4. Divide the pudding mixture evenly into two separate bowls.
  5. To one bowl, add the Nutella and hazelnut spread, stirring until well combined.
  6. To the other bowl, add the cocoa powder, stirring until well combined.
  7. Allow both pudding mixtures to cool completely, then refrigerate until chilled and firm.
  8. Once chilled, take each pudding mixture and beat it separately until creamy.
  9. Layer the creamy mixtures in serving glasses or bowls, alternating between the chocolate and hazelnut layers.
  10. Refrigerate the assembled Monte for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
