Broken Glass Cupcakes – Halloween Cupcake Ideas

These make a delightful addition to any Halloween spread, and the best part is they’re super easy to prepare and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups (2.8 ounces) butter
  • 8.8 ounces sugar
  • 8.8 ounces self-rising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 36 clear candies
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 2 drops red food coloring
  • 10 ounces powdered sugar

Instructions:

Step 1 Start by beating 250 grams of butter and 250 grams of sugar in a bowl until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy. You can use an electric whisk for this. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time and sift in the flour and baking soda, making sure to mix thoroughly.

Step 2 Add a tablespoon of vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk to the batter and mix well. This recipe makes 24 cupcakes. Fill your cupcake cases about two-thirds of the way full and bake them for approximately 16 minutes at 170°C (340°F).

Step 3 Unwrap the clear hard candies and place them closely together on a lined baking tray or a silicone mat on a baking tray. Put them in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for about 10 minutes or until the candy melts. Once done, remove and let it cool. Use a knife to break the candy into pieces to create fake broken glass.

Step 4 Beat the remaining butter until it becomes pale and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and the remaining tablespoon of vanilla, and mix until it’s fluffy. Use this mixture to cover the cupcakes, and then insert the fake glass pieces into them. To finish, push the jam through a sieve to remove the seeds, add food coloring, mix, and drizzle it on the glass and the tops of the cupcakes. Enjoy!
