Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • For 8 burger buns, you'll need:
  • 4.4 cups (500g) of all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) of salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons (5g) of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (250ml) slightly warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons (85g) of softened butter
  • Topping: egg yolk and sesame seeds

Instructions

In a bowl, mix the slightly warm milk with the active dry yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Add the eggs, flour, and salt. Knead the dough for a few minutes. Add the softened butter and knead for another 10 minutes until you get a smooth and light dough. Cover the bowl with a towel and a bag, letting it rise for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Punch down the dough and form 8 equal-sized balls (115g each). Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or, like me, in a mold with individual molds. Cover them with a towel and a bag and let them rise for 30 minutes.

Brush the surface with the egg yolk using a brush and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 10-12 minutes.

Once out of the oven, cover with a towel and a bag and let them cool. You'll end up with some incredibly fluffy burger buns.

Top them with your favorite ingredients. You can also freeze them. Once cooled, place them in a freezer bag and store in the freezer. Take them out a few hours before using and let them thaw slowly in a clean towel and a bag. 🍔✨
