  • For the dough:
  • 2 1/2 cups (600 ml) milk
  • 3 tablespoons (40 ml) oil
  • 2 tablespoons (60 g) butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar
  • 2 packets (14 g) dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • About 7 cups (1 kg) all-purpose flour
  • For the filling:
  • 4 cups (500 g) ground walnuts
  • 3/4 cup (180 g) sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 3/4 cup (200 ml) milk
  • 3 tablespoons rum


  1. Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar, and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add salt, melted butter, oil, and egg, then mix everything.
  3. Gradually add flour (the exact amount depends on the brand) and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 7-10 minutes. Sprinkle flour on the work surface as needed.
  4. Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. After rising, briefly knead the dough and divide it into two equal parts.
  6. Roll out one part thinly (about 60x35 cm), spread half of the filling evenly over the surface, and roll it up from the longer side. Cut it into pieces about 4-5 cm long. Repeat with the other dough.
  7. Place the cut rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the rolls with beaten egg and bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your nut rolls!
