  • 3 large eggs plus 1 yolk, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (335 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (114 grams)
  • 1/3 cup natural cocoa powder (35 grams)
  • For Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 5 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature (147 grams)
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, at room temperature (58 grams)
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar (232 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 metal baking pan with parchment paper.
