Barbie Churros

Barbie Churros

These adorable pink churros not only taste amazing but would also be a hit at a pink-themed party, especially when served in mini pink and white striped popcorn boxes. Now, let’s find a reason to throw that pink party!

Here’s what you need:

  • For Pink Churros:
    • 1/2 cup (115g) butter
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 cup (225ml) water
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 1/4 cups (145g) plain flour
    • A pinch of salt
    • 1 tablespoon pink gel food coloring
  • For Pink Chocolate Dip:
    • 3.5 ounces (100g) white chocolate
    • 1 teaspoon pink food coloring (oil-based, suitable for chocolate)

Now, let’s get cooking:

Pink Churros:

  1. Begin by heating the water, butter, and sugar in a saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and the flour, and stir until it forms a dough that comes away from the sides of the saucepan. Remove it from the heat and allow it to cool.
  2. Stir in the eggs, one at a time, until the churro dough is nice and smooth.
  3. Add the pink gel food coloring to the dough using a spatula.
  4. Spoon the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a Wilton 6B tip.
  5. Carefully pipe the dough into hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes. Ensure they are cooked inside and not burnt. It’s a good idea to test a few churros before frying the entire batch.
  6. Coat the churros in pink sugar (simply add a touch of pink food coloring to caster sugar).

Pink Chocolate Dip:

  1. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave, heating it in 20-second intervals. Stir in the food coloring to achieve your desired shades of lighter and darker pink.
  2. Dip the tips of the churros into the pink chocolate and savor them while they’re still warm. Enjoy!
