Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 200g Butter
  • 2.5 cups Flour
  • 1 cup minus a finger's width of Granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 kg Apples
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch

Instructions

Peel and dice the apples. Mix them with lemon juice to prevent browning. Put the apples in a pan, add sugar, and cook on the stove for about 5 minutes until they release their juices and soften. Dissolve cornstarch in 1.5 cups of water. Add cinnamon, raisins, and cornstarch mixture to the apples. Cook for 1 minute, then remove from heat and let it cool.
Knead the dough ingredients well and let the dough rest in the fridge for 15 minutes. Take out a portion of dough about the size of an orange and return the rest to the fridge. Grease your baking pan well. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and place it in the pan. Flatten the dough with your hands. Pour the prepared filling onto the dough. Grate the reserved dough portion over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) until golden brown. Don't remove it from the pan until it cools completely to prevent the dough from breaking. Once cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve.
